My best is yet to come: Venkatesh Hyderabad: From being the son of Dr Ramanaidu, one of the most successful producers of Telugu film industry, to his entry into movies, it was a natural transition for actor 'Victory' Venkatesh. But what an entry it was ' with his first film Kaliyuga Pandavulu he rallied his way into the hearts of Telugu audience and also won Nandi award for the best male debut.
Barring a few failures, his career graph has been stable with a few hits, more super hits and many more super duper hits. He has several classic films to his credit ' Swarnakamalam directed by K. Vishwanath (the film also fetched him the second Nandi award,) Bobbili Raja, Khshana Kshanam directed by Ram Gopal Varma, Prema ' the all time romantic film, Satruvu, that redefined his angry young man image and Chanti which gave him critical acclaim.
Following Chanti, Venkatesh acted in several successful remake films, marking them with his unique style and treatment. In recent years, films like Nuvvu Naaku Nachavu, Malleswari, Gharshana, Sankranti, Tulasi, Chintakayala Ravi, Aadavari Matalaku Arthale Verule showed the multifaceted actor in his various shades.
With an envious career graph dotted with seven Nandi awards and four Filmfare (South) awards and 64 films in 25 years, Venkatesh remains unfazed. 'The best is yet to come,' says actor Venkatesh on the occasion of his completing 25 years of Telugu cinema.
After so many films, what inspires you to continue acting with the same zeal?
I know I have more potential as an actor, which hasn't been tapped yet. I am waiting for that one film which will give me the scope to showcase my skill. The wait keeps me going.
How do you feel about the success you have tasted in your career?
I cannot singularly take credit for my success. I believe that we must do our job well and leave it there. Success is a universal thing and belongs to all the people involved. I feel happy to have worked with great technicians and directors. Every one of them contributed to moulding me as an actor. It also feels good that through my films, we introduced new actors and technicians. Today when I see them growing in the industry; it is a good feeling. It is also very heartening to see the unconditional love and sincere advice that fans give.
Are there any regrets?
Like everyone else, I made mistakes too and learnt from them. But I prefer not looking back. What you do now is only in your hands. There is no way you change what has already happened. Again 'what comes to you is yours'. For example, not many know that I was supposed to do the role of Arvind Swamy in Roja, but I had to cancel due to an injury. But then I got other good films instead.
Is it true that you will be working with Mahesh Babu in a film? What are your other forthcoming films?
Yes it is decided that I will be working with Mahesh in a film, but the dates are not yet confirmed. Right now I am shooting for Bodyguard and then there is Dasarath's film followed by a home production. Swami Vivekananda is slated for October, next year.
How come Telugu film industry and our heroes are not ready to experiment with their films like in Hindi? And what about you?
The reason is that we still have to find quality writer and director combo who are confident enough. I agree that there is an element of monotony in our films. But it is just a matter of time, when things will change. The young heroes are talented and are waiting for the right script. As far as I am concerned, as I told you I am still waiting for that one script that will bring out the 100% from me.
