Tollywood fasts for Anna Hazare Hyderabad: Tollywood joined the nationwide fight against graft by taking out a Silent March in Filmnagar Friday morning, choosing to let their silence convey their patriotic intent.
Over 500 members of the industry turned up at Film Chamber of Commerce office at 8 am to express their support to the Anna Hazare wave in the country with a Silent March.
The likes of Jagapathi Babu, Jeevita-Rajasekhar, Sivaji Raja, Sanjana, Ali, Kamal Kamaraju along with a host of directors, producers, light boys, technicians and assistants joined in the march as they walked through Filmnagar for an hour before proceeding on a day long fast at the Film Chamber of Commerce.
With black bands tied to their mouths the participants chose the placards to do all the talking with slogans like Amma Palu Thagaru, Avineethi Ki Tala Vancharu, khabardar khabardar drohulara khabardar, Avinithiparula parita arjuna villu Jana Lok Pal Bill, Neethi Kosaem Poratam, Bharatjati Kosame Aaratam, Maa kosam kadu, mee kosam, mee pillala kosam poradandi, Anna hazare neti Gandhi, Aayanananu nammukunte andariki annam dorukuthundi.
Movie Artistes Association president Murali Mohan who is leading the fast said, 'Our country has been a symbol of truth and honesty. But a handful of corrupt people have been bringing the country to shame with their greed. If we can get all the black money stashed away in foreign banks India would not need any funds from the World Bank.
The whole country is fed up of this menace of corruption, we believe in Anna Hazare's vision of a corruption free India and we are here to join the fight for the implementation of the Jan Lokpal Bill.'
