Cops to grill actor Varun Sandesh Hyderabad: The Central Crime Station (CCS) is likely to question Telugu film actor Varun Sandesh in connection with the drug racket having links to the film industry. It may be recalled Varun's name figured in the confessions made by doctor D V Siddartha and his Nigerian friend James Egems, who were arrested by the city police on July 22.
The city police had arrested the duo and seized 25 gm of cocaine from their possession. Police told reporters on July 22 that the accused Siddartha and James had revealed the names of other drug users including Telugu film actor Varun Sandesh and others.
However, there was no progress in the probe as all the drug related cases registered in various police stations were transferred to the CCS on the pretext of effective probe and there was a procedural delay in the transfer of the case.
The deputy commissioner of police of the detective department, J Satyanarayana said that two teams were sent to Bengaluru and Goa as part of the probe. 'We have got some clues and are working on them,' he said.
Replying to a question, the DCP said they were yet to question Varun Sandesh
in connection with the drug racket. 'It is a part of investigation.', when asked whether he will be questioned, the DCP said.
