Aksha blushed with Bunny's call
Hyderabad: Her latest release Kandireega has got a great opening and her performance as a rustic Telangana girl has fetched her quite a few compliments. 'I have been flooded with congratulatory calls ever since the movie released. The best part was when Allu Arjun called up to say I was fantastic in the film. I was overwhelmed,' she beams.
Apparently she was more than a little surprised to see herself on screen. 'I was shocked to see myself as the typical village belle,' she says laughing and adds, 'I am a jeans, top and flip flops kind of girl. I was like, is that me?' Playing that role though, took a lot of effort. 'I am not Telugu. So it was a huge challenge to get the Telangana diction and the mannerisms right,' she says.
Born and brought up in Mumbai, her love affair with the film industry started off quite early. She got her first taste of limelight at the age of five! She's modelled for over 150 advertisements till date. She made her debut at 15, in a Malayalam film called Goal.
'I've always been the filmy type even as a kid and always knew I would do something related to showbiz,' she shares.
Aksha made her debut in Telugu cinema with Yuvatha in 2008. She has acted in four Telugu films since. Four films in three years is not much in terms of numbers but Aksha is in no hurry.
'I am only 19 and I have a lot of time at hand. I am very lucky to have got a break like Kandireega so early in my career and I want to make sure I do something different with every film,' she explains. Surprisingly enough she has not signed up a new film yet. 'At the moment I am busy promoting Kandireega. I am listening to a few scripts but haven't zeroed in on anything yet,' she shares.
Being the youngest in the family, Aksha is used to having her way. 'I've been very pampered as a kid and my parents also knew that this is what I wanted. They have always supported my decision of taking up acting as a career,' she shares.
Aksha has done her part too, in keeping her family happy. 'I am doing my best to get my graduation out of the way. But that's just to keep my parents happy,' she offers. She is currently pursuing BCom. Aksha maintains that she has always been a good student. 'I did Goal when I was in
Class X and was shooting for it two days before my exam. Yet I managed to score 80 percent,' she says.
The young actress describes herself as a pretty homely girl. 'I am quite regular that way, I love reading and hanging out with friends, watching movies and so on. I am not very particular about the way I look either. You will find me in the most worn-out clothes and with hardly any make-up on when I am not working or making a public appearance,' she shares.
Apparently she's never been in a relationship either. 'I am quite demanding as a person so it's hard to find someone who matches up to my idea of a perfect guy,' she says laughing. 'He must have a sense of humour and must love me more than I will love him, take me out to candle-light dinners and should be well-mannered as well,' she adds describing her idea of a perfect man.
Now that looks like a pretty exhaustive list. However, her pet dog, Romeo, a Lhasa Apso, is her biggest love in life. 'I was not very fond of dogs. But my brother was keen on having a dog and so he brought it home. But now I can't get enough of him; he's so adorable,' she says. Guess the men will have to wait for now.
