Ram Charan pitches for Polo
Hyderabad: Donning a new role in real life, actor Ram Charan Tej pitched for polo, the royal sport. Ram Charan has taken it upon himself to revive the royal sport.
'Dad and I have built a personal relationship over the sport. When I was 5, we started horse riding together.' The actor told media persons that he owned the RC Hyderabad Polo & Riding Club with four members. He said that he was looking forward to encouraging local players.
The actor, known for his love for horses, believes that polo enhances the sharpness of brain, apart from contributing to physical fitness. 'The sport has to be revived and I hope my association with it can help raise it to a level that encourages youth to take it up,' he observed.
On being the owner of the team, he said: 'More than the money, it is the passion for the high-end sport that is giving me a high.' Ttown stars are known for their cricketing skills, but Charan has pitched for another exciting sport.
Players of RC Hyderabad Polo & Riding Club Chaitanya Kumar (also one among the sponsors) Rohit Reddy - the youngest Hyderabadi polo player Dhruv Pal Godara - India's best forward Samir Suhag - one of the best players of the Indian team (Captain).
To mark the occasion, the actor launched the club logo and the T shirt for the season. 'We are very happy with the response we've got from the sponsors. They've helped us out at utmost speed of 3 days,' Charan said.
Khadar, who has guided Charan in horse riding since his childhood, is the coach for the team. Charan also said that team would practice in the Parade Grounds at Secunderabad.
The team will represent the Nizami City in league style national tournaments that are to be held across the country from October. The tournament, which will begin in October, is likely to make Charan tour cities like Delhi and Jaipur with his team members.
So, it is going to be a feast for Cherry's fans. Polo is a game of agility, speed and mobility, keeping spectators at the edge of their seats. The sport has a rich heritage of 2,500 years and is closely associated with royalty.
Andhra Pradesh has had a strong relationship with the sport right from the time of the Nizams in 1875. Hyderabad now has seven Polo Grounds and has the potential to be one of the biggest polo centres in the country.
