High expectations from Dookudu Hyderabad: Industry has high expectations with the windfall for Dookudu at the box office. Original makes have come to stay is the buzz word as it has been a horrid time with remakes and dubbing films ruling the roost.
Though the film scaled an average mark on the critics scale, the response and collections have been very promising. Mahesh Babu with his wife Namrata Shirodkar watched the movie with his fans in single screen theatre in the city while special shows were arranged for the bigwigs of the industry.
There are films of big heroes Jr NTR, Nagarjuna, Venkatesh, Ravi Teja and other due to be released during the festival season but Dookudu has proved a point that original Telugu films can make a difference and will be very successful.
Producers were hitherto shying away from original scripts and taking up only tested waters and remaking films successful in other languages, but Dookudu could turn the tide, industry analysts say.
Mahesh Babu's super hit Pokiri was remade in Hindi as Wanted with Salman Khan in the lead role and was a huge success. There were other films as well Saman Khan had opted to.
Telugu industry has reached that level and it should be sustained, says an observer. It is time, producers take some risks and produce original films so that the industry can turn out as a most sought after one rather than being a copy cat, was his remark.
