'Dookudu' smashes box office records Hyderabad: Dookudu' literally means aggression in Telugu and the latest Mahesh Babu-starrer, directed by Srinu Vytla, produced on the '14 Reels Entertainment' banner, appears to be just that.
In just three days since its release on September 23, it has grossed a whopping US $ one million in the US alone. The total amount raked in for the producers now stands at Rs. 21.22 crore.
It is well known in the Telugu film industry that a producer holds what's termed a 'success meet' only when he wants the film propped up a little bit more and make viewers come to the screens.
But producers Anil Sunkara and brother Ram and Gopichand Achanta, not to forget the director, can now truly boast of the success of their product.
At a success meet here on Monday afternoon, Anil Sunkara said that in just two days last weekend, they had collected a US $ One million, apart from Rs. 1.5 crore more (in Indian rupees) from screenings in Australia, Canada, Dubai, the United Kingdom and Europe.
What 'Dookudu' has done in three days was to surpass the record of Rs. 26 crore set in the first week of release by the Nandamuri Balakrishna-starrer 'Simha' and the Rs. 23 crore that 'Magadheera', starring Ram Charan Tej got.
That's not all. This film happens to be the one shown at a maximum number of screens worldwide too using all the four formats ' the UFO, Qube, PXD (Prasad's Extreme Digital) and the old-fashioned negative print.
'The objective was to make the audio and video as lyrical and smoothand wesucceedwith help of key players like Srinu Vytla who wielded the megaphone, music director S.S. Thaman and the Director of Photography K.V. Guhan.'
