I want to play it safe: Mahesh Babu Hyderabad: Five weeks after Dookudu release, it is still going strong in the theatres and has been officially declared a blockbuster based on its collections.
Tollywood Prince Mahesh Babu, who often delivers short, but punchy dialogues, displays the same 'daring and dashing' attitude even in answering to queries in an interview.
Excerpts from an interview:
You are on cloud nine after Dookudu's success. How do you receive success and failure?
I'm not in a position to think about failure. I'm really enjoying the success of Dookudu. It helped me as a change over for my roles on the reel. It brought me out of Pokiri's image. I'm thankful to director Sreenu Vytla.
Success brings in hype and eventually exerts pressure on the actor's future movies. Do you think the hype and success of Dookudu will do the same?
No. Dookudu established me as an actor. My role in the movie has motley of shades. Dookudu proved that I have the ability to fit into all kind of genres.
It has become a trend to do an experimental film after a big success. Do you follow the same trend?
No, I don't want to do any experiments. I am more careful and more attentive than before. I want to play it safe.
Talks are rounding around industry that if you were portraying police role in a movie then the movie will rake success. How do you respond to this sentiment?
(With a smile) Looks like the sentiment is working! It was proved with Pokiri and now with Dookudu.
Which was the most difficult scene?
There was no such scene like that. In fact, I didn't do any hard work during filming. I thoroughly enjoyed each and every scene.
Your contemporaries are eyeing Bollywood? What about you?
As of now, I'm only eyeing good films in Tollywood.
Your fans often complain that you act in very few movies, one movie a year?
2012 will be different and hopefully, make them happy. I am engaged in the shoot of The Business Man with Puri Jaganaadh. I have already signed another multi-starrer in Dil Raju's production. Next year I may come up with three movies.
Are not worried about sharing screen space with your contemporary star Venkatesh. Doesn't it affect your image?
Venkatesh is very good actor. I respect him a lot. I am acting as his younger brother in Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu. I am sure director Srikanth Addala's fantastic script will help me reach my fan's expectations.
