Domakonda fort comes to life for Cherry's engagement Hyderabad: The historic Domakonda Fort, almost in abandoned stage, is being spruced up now to host the engagement ceremony of popular film star Chiranjeevi's son Ram Charan Teja and Upasana Kamineni in Nizamabad district on December 1.
The renovation works and the arrangements for his engagement are going on in full swing with labourers working round- the clock at the fort.
The fort, which is 100 km from Hyderabad, is believed to be constructed in 18th the century and the Domakonda Gadi Samsthan rulers are the Kamineni family.
Upasana is the daughter of Domakonda Samsthan's current heir Anil Kamineni and Sobhana Reddy. Kamineni Umapathi Rao is Upasana's maternal grandfather, who owns the fort.
Earlier, Upasana's family members denied reports that the engagement ceremony would be held here. However, Chiranjeevi along with his wife Surekha and son Ram Charan Teja called on Governor E S L Narasimhan recently and invited him to attend the engagement ceremony.
With Chiranjeevi confirming the reports, the Domakonda fort has become the talk of the town in Nizamabad district. Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, PCC president Botsa Satyanarayana, Ministers, MPs, film stars and a large number of VIPs are expected to attend the ceremony.
The renovation works are now going on at a brisk pace. Workers are clearing bushes and levelling the land in and around the fort.
Domakonda villagers are pleased over the news that their village has caught the media attention.
