Review: Nuvvila - an average flick for youngsters Hyderabad: After the tremendous success of director, Shekhar Kammula's Happy Days, many directors opted for youthful movies with a student backdrop.
Director Ravi Babu's Nuvvila is a contemporary subject, which revolves around youth and their problems. It doesn't offer any path-breaking solutions, but nevertheless connects with the youth.
UshaKiron films, famous for introducing fresh talent to the industry, has introduced five new faces, Ajay, Prasad, Mahesh, Yami Gautham and Ramya, who managed to get the audience to laugh and sympathise with them.
The film is about the life of three guys, Anand, Raja and Mahesh, who end-up taking a job at a pizzeria, due to problems at home. Anand (Ajay) is eternally confused. While his mom tries to push him into medicine, his father is bent upon on him choosing engineering.
He decides to take a break and works as a pizza delivery boy. During one such delivery, he is smitten by the beauty of his neighbour, Archana (Yami Gautham), who happens to be great fan of a cricketer.
However, Anand soon realises that Archana is not just a fan, but is in a relationship with cricketer Vishnu Vardhan (Vijay Sai) and is carrying his child. Before she could share the news, she is struck by the sad news of Vishnu's death.
Anand's part of tale further reveals how he takes up her responsibility and slowly earns her love. Ajay's mediocre acting abilities, at times, are compensated by Yami's beauty and charm. Raja (Prasad) and Rani (Ramya) share an amazing chemistry. Although, they were a part of a clich'd love story- Pair begin with fighting each other and eventually ends up in love, the two actors manage to bring in great variety.
Mahesh (Havish) is portrayed as a flirt who concentrates immensely on his looks, style and women. He is stalked by a gay, who is appointed by his ex-girlfriend Madhavi (Sarayu), to take revenge against him.
Although, the gay element was introduced with a hope to entertain the audience, people might get bored of too much of gay drama. Unlike typical Telugu songs that are shot at hilly areas and allow people to check their messages and calls during that time, the songs in this film are as important as rest of the movie.
Shekhar Chandra's scored melodious music properly packaged with Bhaskarabhatla's meaningful lyrics. The song where a girl and a guy get together for a cookery show is shot innovatively where the cooking procedure is explained in a song with cool lyrics.
At times, the film seems like an advertisement for Ramoji products with film being swamped with the posters of Margadarsi, Priya Pickles, ETV etc. The initial scenes of the film might seem be monotonous and annoying, eventually the film turns out to be a fun ride for a youngster on an outing with a bunch of buddies.
