Tough time for dubbing movies Hyderabad: In the wake of dubbing movies sweeping the Telugu cinema market, the Andhra Pradesh Producer Council (APPC) on Monday decided to crack its whip on them. The council has set up a committee to control the spate of dubbed movie releases in Andhra Pradesh.
The committee comprising ace producers such as Daggubati Suresh Babu, Dil Raju, Shyam Prasad Reddy, Nallamalapu Bujji and others. The committee has put forth few proposals which include ban on the release of dubbing movies on festive days.
Under this guideline, only Telugu movies should release on Sankranthi, Ganesh Chaturthi, Deepavali, Dussera, etc.
Incidentally, 7th Sense, a Tamil movie dubbed into Telugu and G.One (Shahrukh Khan's Ra.One dubbed into Telugu) were the only two releases for Diwali this year
The committee has suggested that 50% Entertainment Tax to be levied on dubbed releases to deter the dubbing movie makers and enable the State Government to earn more revenue.
Even the number of theatres for dubbed movies should be limited to around 85 screens in AP, the council said.
