Murky side of Lotus Pond Hyderabad, Nov 15 (INN): 17Th Children Film Festival opened here amidst a controversy over the credits of the Telugu entry Lotus Pond and the person claiming to be the original director demanding to stop screening of the film until the dispute is settled.
PG Vinda claimed that he is the director of the film while the Producer Nitin Kumar had taken credit and ignored him. He was speaking to media along with Music Director of the film Suil kasyap, Editor Chandrsekar and another director Sridhar.
'We worked on the subject for two years and I provided the story, screenplay and direction besides being the cinematographer. Nitin was a friend and we gave him 50 per cent share. Even the censor certificate has my name in the director slot,' he said.
Vinda accused Nitin of gaving the entry to the 17th International Children's Film Festival in the Competition section without his knowledge and taking credit for producing and directing the film.
'I do not have any objection if Nitin Kumar is given credit as producer. We object to giving the credit for music to some unknown person and naming Nitin's wife Smitha as the storywriter of the film. Vinda claimed that he would approach the Directors' Council and also probe the legal option.
