Balakrishna ready to act with Nagarjuna Hyderabad: After tasting the rave reviews of Sri Rama Rajyam, Balakrishna says that he is ready to act with Nagarjuna and the acceptance came with a rider'the film should only be mythological.
During the developing stages of Telugu cinema, NTR and ANR acted in a good number of films including mythological movies and their sons could as well do one must have been the Balakrishna thought.
Though his father NTR and Nagarjuna's father ANR gave some hits like Maya Bazar, Bhukailas and period films Tenali Ramakrishna and Chankya Chanragupta, the art of film making and its promotion has changed a lot with the changing times.
Balakrishna has done Panduranga Mahathyam and Nagarjuna donned the roles of Annamaya and Ramadasu. Commercials apart, the films surely lacked the aesthetic sense and serenity of the old films, technical superiority notwithstanding.
NTR, who is the undisputed mogul of mythological movies, led a disciplined life and when he was doing a mythological role his regimen would shrink to a pious platform and his face would radiate the quality of the character he plays.
Such devotion cannot be expected from others and it shows on the face, whatever the cosmetic and technical dressing modern age film making may have.
There are only a couple of directors who can handle mythological films to give the desired effect. There are others who do not hesitate to show the navel or the curves of an artiste even if the role is Sita or Draupadi. Lyricists are again for asking and lyric writing is reduced to anything but not poetry.
In this scenario if Balakrishna and Nagarjuna join hands for mythological film, the idea is good but resources are scarce and it asks for excellence in many departments. If such a thing happens, Tollywood stands to gain.
The second generation combo tried to remake the classic Gundamma Katha but Nagarjuna backed out. The third generation stars Jr NTR and Naga Chaitanaya are believed to be giving a try to it.
Who plays Gundamma, played by Suryakantam, was the main question that did the rounds when the talk was in circulation. But it remains to be seen what unfolds in the days to come.
