MAA mulls curbs on non-Telugu actors Vizianagaram: Movie Artistes Association (MAA) president Murali Mohan on Sunday came out vociferously against the increasing influx of actors and actresses from other states into Tollywood.
Inaugurating the Jayabheri Maruti showroom here on Sunday, he deplored the gradual fading out of Telugu artistes in local movies.
The MAA president said that steps would be taken to restrict the number of the artistes from other states to two or three in each movie including the heroine.
If the Telugu film industry is to regain its former glory and retain its top position for a long time, the producers and the government should take a lot of decisions, he said.
Lamenting the influence and rising number of dubbed movies, he said that such movies should be permitted only up to 25 prints.
The Telugu film industry would create more opportunities to local artistes and actors and MAA would take the lead in this direction, he assured.
