Hyderabad: Tollywood actress Soumya Bollapragada of Mugguru fame has lashed out at media reports which appeared in a leading English and Telugu newspaper in Hyderabad saying that her photo was wrongly printed in connection with a report about a Kannada actress by the same name.
The reports mentioned that Kannada actress Soumya was stabbed by an ex cop and her lover Anil and that her condition is serious.
The actress who debuted with Angrez and shared screen space with ace director Dasari Narayan Rao told: 'I'm extremely disappointed and embarrassed with the reports of the two newspapers.
I'm soon going to take a legal action against the papers who published my photograph. I've been receiving calls since morning from my relatives and friends enquiring about my health.
This is utterly annoying as I've been clarifying the reports since morning. It is the responsibility of media persons to crosscheck before publishing a news story to avert such faux pas.
I underwent lot of mental pain and stress as it leads to my defamation. She also added that she is not a Kannadiga but a Telugu from Visakhapatnam.
