Slew of film release on cards this week Hyderabad: Suddenly Tollywood came alive with a slew of pictures hitting the screen this week and the last month of the year starting on an encouraging note.
Two films were out today. The much talked about Bezawada starring Naga Chairtanya and the dubbing movie Sangarshana which has Allari Naresh and Sasikuamar.
Tomorrow, Vidya Balan, Nasiruddin Shah and Eran Hashmi starrer The Dirty Picture will be in the open; both Telugu and Hindi versions being released simultaneously.
On the same day lover boy Varun Sandesh starrer Priyudu will also hit the screens.
Bezawada, which created lot of negative publicity before release from the title itself, passed out without any further fireworks.
Though it was given A Certificate, the film got mixed response and did not fall into any of the categories that it was feared before the release.
The film stood out as a story of two gangs vying for supremacy and the initial talks did not pat the director or the writing department.
People heaved a sigh of relief as the film did not turn out as a replica of some incidents that took place in early 80s and the caste division.
Allari Naresh and Swathi have a good following and it remains to be seen how much popularity the dubbed film gains in the first week as there is a crowd there.
The Dirty Picture has its share of controversies and legal tangles. Producer Ekta Kapoor had to get a caveat for releasing the Hindi and other dubbed versions of the film.
The Dirty Picture is described as the celluloid narrative of the life and times of Southern Star Silk Smitha. The formative years, rise to glory and the sudden death.
Played by Vidya Balan, the film had a big pre-release promotional activity and the elegant star was in city as part of the schedule.
Last but not the least to come up this week is Priyudu as the title Lover Boy clearly fits into the image of Varun Sandesh as Naga Chaitanya, who has now taken to action films with Bezawada. Priyudu has Preetika in the main lead role.
Sankranti is expected to more crowded with more number of films being lined up for release during the three day festival.
