Dirty Picture scores over Bezawada Hyderabad: The two pictures had courted controversies from the very beginning. There were threats and demands to ban the film on reasons ranging from attempt to misrepresent facts to fear of retaliation.
After release, there was absolutely no unrest or trouble from any quarter for Bezawada and the dubbed version of The Dirty Picture.
According to initial talk, Naga Chaitanya starrer Bezawada is average and has mindless violence in some scenes, while The Dirty Picture is a pure entertainer with high quality acting contribution from Vidya Balan and Naseeruddin Shah.
While the straight film lacked good script and research, the dubbed film was explicit in narration and Vidya had done the role very well. Film goers are more attracted towards the The Dirty Picture as it has all the elements of an entertainer.
Producer Ekta Kapoor had to file for a caveat to release the picture throughout India, after the brother of South Indian star Smita threatened to file a case for showing her sister in the way she never was.
For Bezawada, the title came up debate and after a compromise was worked out, then came the faction rivalry part and caste equations and lot of heat was generated on issue taking political overtures and censor too seems to be unkind to it.
Both the pictures got A certification and result is in the open. Touted as the new age Shiva, Bezawada failed to live up to the expectations while The Dirty Picture was truly entertaining.
