Glamour world obsessed with titles Hyderabad: Glamour world is obsessed with titles and tags and it insists on using any such description without fail while addressing the people living in the glittering globe.
The honorary titles and doctorates, the celebrities feel, are their hard earned ones and it should not fall out of mention while addressing them.
Mainline media faced many such problems as stars wanted the Dr, Padmashri or such honorary titles to be added before their names.
At least they had vented their feelings to their fans who in turn asked the scribes as to why they do not start the names in the way the stars like them to be started.
Some of the stars even wanted to mention that they were former members of Parliament or Assembly. At least the message used to be conveyed to them by their (star's) well wishers.
Some of the journalists did yield and even now in some quarters the honorary titles are being mentioned.
Next comes the tags or taglines. No top hero or director wants to be identified with his own name. There should be some suffix to the name.
It has become a practice. Dashing, Super, Action'. Anything but the suffix is a must. This has come to be the vogue.
To find out who introduced it or who insisted on it is not easy. From the hay stack of sycophancy it is difficult to pick up the responsible needle.
Who gives them the titles or is itself proclaimed or is it for publicity nobody knows, but the heat is on.
This time around it is about who is number one in Tollywood. Who is asking the question or is it really necessary to find out is not known but fans and promoters are coming up in droves and drumming up support for their respective hero.
The recent clash between the fans of Pawan Kalyan and Jr NTR in Nalgonda is an example of hero worship. The industry is controlled by a handful of persons/families/group.
Caste equations too come to the fore some times, not just among the stars but among the fans as well. It was very prevalent when Chiranjeevi and Balakrishna were at the helm.
Now that the third generation stars have come onto the scene, the tussle for the first spot is heating up as there are at least five to six stars, all of them coming from families with film background.
Now the stars, nay fans, are trying to include the pre-fix and establish early in the career. The trend did not change with the generation though the number of competitors has increased.
Technology has improved, world has become small and accessible but some habits do not change.
