Manchu Vishnu hives off stake in CCL Hyderabad: Manchu Vishnu took everyone by surprise by announcing his ownership in Celebrity Cricket League's (CCL) first season. A few more days to go for the second season to commence, Manchu Vishnu sprung yet another surprise; this time by selling off his stakes in Telugu Warriors team!
The actor-entrepreneur sold out the team to the AMR Group's Mahesh Reddy for about Rs 5 crore, the reasons of which are kept under wraps. However, the cricket lover will play for the team, to be led by Venkatesh.
The Season 2 is getting more a starry affair with six teams partaking in the event. Bollywood, Tollywood, Kollywood and Sandalwood apart, Bengali and Malayalam film industries have joined the league.
Boney Kapoor and Sridevi own the Bengal team, while director Priyadarshan and actor Mohanlal own the Malayalam team.
Sohail Khan, captain of Bollywood Heroes, speaking to a news paper said that the matches this time are to be played with a high degree of competitiveness and the pay packets of actors are getting double ' somewhere between Rs 5 to 75 lakh depending on the star status.
The CCL teams also will rope in some reigning artistes for the second season, the opening ceremony of which will be held in Sharjah on January 12, 2012. Kareena Kapoor, Ritesh Deshmukh, Genelia D'Souza and other B-town celebs are to turn up for the do.
According to CCL founder Vishnu Vardhan, the actors are reaching the masses with 'anti piracy' slogan as well. There will be 18 matches and the closing ceremony is planned in Hyderabad on February 12.
The popularity of the league crossed the boundaries and there is wide scope for including silver screen stars from Australia, Pakistan and Bangladesh in the future.
For now, discussions are on with global pop artistes like Shakira and Jennifer Lopez for a 15-minute live performance and another 45-minute show at the after-match party.
