Belated felicitation to ANR by MAA Hyderabad: Strange are the ways in Tollywood and some of its knee-jerk reactions. When it comes to Movie Artistes Association (MAA) and its style of functioning things will be at times besides, beyond and afar from the point.
Being a body which is governed (in the true sense) by a group of individuals or top families, the functioning style surprises many.
Be it waking up on the membership issue, or reprimanding a heroine when (a top) producer complaints about her call sheet adjustment or hoodwinking many other complaints as they could draw the ire of some influential people, MAA is always on the side which it thinks it is right.
This time around it has taken the decision of felicitating thespian Akkineni Nageswara Rao on January 22, needless to say that it would be a grand affair.
MAA felicitating ANR is good news and it has all the moral courage and reason to heap praise on the grand old man of Tollywood.
What hurts the connoisseurs most is the reason MAA has cited for felicitation the senior actor.
ANR is being felicitated for receiving Padma Bhusahan award. The Award was announced in January 2011 and the function is planned by MAA after one full year in 2012.
A couple of days back, ANR lost his wife, who, the film circles lauded, was the lucky charm behind the success of the actor.
She would have been happy to see the MAA felicitation as well, if the function was held immediately after the announcement.
If the delay was from the actor's side, MAA could have felicitated in some other name, as he holds many records, and tag on the Padma award to it. Anyway, MAA has always been known for bungling things up many a time.
