Gopichand finacee's dad kills self
Hyderabad: A leading businessman in Hyderabad, whose daughter had recently got engaged with Tollywood actor Gopichand, ended his life on Sunday reportedly after the marriage broke off for unknown reasons.
V Ram Babu (58), a resident of Malakpet, ran a furniture business in Dilsukhnagar and also owned a multi-storeyed commercial complex in the same locality.
He had fixed his daughter's marriage with Tollywood actor Gopichand and the engagement ceremony was held on January 26 this year.
The wedding is to take place on February 24. But due to unknown reasons, the marriage was allegedly cancelled, pushing Ram Babu into depression.
According to Malakpet assistant commissioner of police Iqbal Siddiqui, Ram Babu told his family on Sunday afternoon that he was feeling unwell and wanted to rest. Asking them not to disturb him, he went to his bedroom around 2.30 p.m.
His family members did not suspect anything for a few hours but when he did not come out till 7.30 p.m. or respond to their repeated calling, the family members broke open the bedroom door and found Ram Babu lying unconscious.
Rambabu, who is said to be the brother of TDP leader S V Krishna Prasad was taken to Yashoda Hospital at Malakpet.
'He was shifted to the Yashoda hospital where the doctors pronounced him dead. He had consumed poison and the bottle was found in the bathroom,' Siddiqui said.
The ACP said that no case has been registered so far as the family has not lodged any complaint so far.
Ram Babu's elder brother is coming from Nalgonda on Monday and is expected to lodge a complaint .
