Director Viswanath felicitated at Vizag
Visakhapatnam: Legendary cine director and Raghupathi Venkayya Award recipient Dr.K.Viswanath was conferred the title 'Viswavikhyata Darsaka Sarvabhouma' at the spiritual meet held here in connection with the 27th Mahakumbhabhishekam on the auspicious Mahashivaratri day on Monday organized by T. Subbirami Reddy Lalitha Kala Parishad.
Replying to the felicitation, Viswanath said it was beyond his capacity to carry the title as he was already aged and has taken the support of props to walk.
'But how can I refuse when the Lord Himself appears and offers me Nandi and asks me to play with', he remarked recollecting a dialogue in 'Sutradharulu' movie.
A memento and Veena were presented by the organizers to him. Actors Manjubhargavi and Tulasi who performed lead roles in his musical film 'Sankarabharanam' in eighties were on the dais beside him.
Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas S. Jaipal Reddy was the Chief Guest. Minister for Investment, Infrastructure and Ports Ganta Srinivasa Rao, PCC Chief Botsa Satyanarayana, MP Harsha Kumar, MLAs T.Vijaya Kumar, Kannababu, Malla Vijaya Prasad, Ch.Venkata Ramayya, Panchakarla Ramesh Babu, Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao, former MLAs Dharmasree and T.Gurumurthy Reddy were among those who were present at the programme.
