Media Academy striving to set high standards in journalism, says chairman Two ~day refresher course held for rural scribes
Visakhapatnam : CR Media Academy is striving to set high standards in journalism, said Academy Chairman Alapati Suresh Kumar. He was speaking at the second day of two day refresher classes held for rural journalists at VSM Engineering College auditorium in Ramachandrapuram in East Godavari district on Sunday. He underscored the importance of journalists having a desire to learn and improve their skills.

Senior journalists, including Srisailam Ramesh, G Kondala Rao, A Brahmaiah and D Ramakrishnadelivered lectures on topics such as Crime Reporting, Development Journalism, Feature Writing, and Coordination with Desk - Tips for Rural Reporting. Certificates were distributed to journalists on the conclusion of the refresher classes.
Earlier, inaugurating the refresher course on Saturday State Labour Minister Vasan Shetty Subhash said that media should convey the policy decisions taken by the government to the people with proper understanding.
The minister commented that the decisions taken on working hours of labourers will contribute to their welfare. Journalists face various problems in bringing corruption to light, the minister opined.
RDO D. Akhila said that they were able to increase their knowledge through media reports on various topics. Conducting refresher classes for correspondents is a good program, she said.
Chairman Alapati Suresh Kumar said that journalists have the same "freedom" as ordinary citizens. Journalists should use their freedom of expression in a way that protects people's rights, he said. Journalists should continue to learn new things throughout their lives, he suggested.
