Honour for Sankar Foundation Merit award presented to foundation at R~Day celebrations at Police Barracks
Visakhapatnam: Sankar Foundation, a renowned public charitable trust and NGO, was honoured with the prestigious Merit Award at the Republic Day celebrations held on Monday at the sprawling Police Barracks grounds. This marks the second consecutive year that the Foundation has been recognised for its outstanding service to society.
District Collector and Magistrate MN Harendhira Prasad presented the award to the Sankar Foundation, acknowledging its remarkable contribution in eliminating avoidable blindness and achieving a milestone of performing over 5 lakh eye surgeries. This has transformed countless lives.

On behalf of the Foundation, A Krishna Kumar, Managing Trustee, and K Bangar Raju, Deputy General Manager (PR & Liaison), received the award in the presence of Sankabrata Bagchi, Police Commissioner, Kethan Garg, Commissioner, GVMC, and other district officials.
Chairman of the Board of Trustees M Ramdas, along with A Krishna Kumar, Managing Trustee, A Prasanna Kumar, Executive Trustee, and A Vijay Kumar, trustee, extended heartfelt congratulations to the doctors and employees. They emphasised their dedication and tireless efforts have brought laurels to foundation and reinforced its reputation as a quality eye care provider and a beacon of hope in the fight against blindness.
The award citation reads, 'In recognition of the services rendered by Sankar Foundation Eye Hospital and Institute in providing quality eye care, particularly to the underprivileged by performing large-scale surgeries and extending free medical services, thereby contributing significantly to vision restoration and community health.'
