CM Chandrababu seeks National Judicial Academy in Amaravati By G Janardhana Rao
Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has appealed to Chief Justice of India, Justice Surya Kant to establish a National Judicial Academy in Amaravati saying the city is being developed as a "model judicial city".

A state-level symposium on mediation was organised in Vijayawada on Sunday by Andhra Pradesh State Legal Services Authority. Justice Surya Kant attended the conference. He was welcomed by the Chief Minister Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that as part of the capital development infrastructure for the judicial system will be provided in the proposed Justice City. Efforts are on to build the best Judicial City in the country by integrating institutions such as the Judicial Academy, Legal Services Authority, Mediation Centre, International Law University and the Bar Council of India.

The state government is ready to allocate the required land for these institutions. The Chief Minister assured support for establishment of National Judicial Academy in Amaravati and sought cooperation of the Chief justice of India in this regard.
Recalling how disputes used to be resolved in villages through mediation, the Chief Minister said that his father played the role of an elder in resolving village disputes. He announced payment of Rs 10,000 for cases resolved through mediation and Rs 3,000 even if they are not resolved. If cases are settled through mediation and speedy justice is delivered, rapid development becomes possible.
The Chief Minister said more than 29,000 farmers voluntarily contributed land for the Amaravati capital through land pooling system. Amaravati is being shaped as an environmentally sustainable and economically strong capital.
Chief Justice of India, Justice Surya Kant, laid the foundation stone for the Andhra Pradesh Judicial Academy in Amaravati today. The academy, being constructed at a cost of ₹165 crore, will provide modern training facilities for judges and hostel facilities for 120 trainee judges.The academy will be spread across 4.83 acres of land and will feature state-of-the-art infrastructure, including indoor sports facilities, a library, and a computer lab. The project is expected to enhance judicial education and training in the state.
Justice Surya Kant also laid the foundation stone for the High Court Guest House and inaugurated the High Court Judges' Residential Enclave, constructed at a cost of ₹210 crore. The enclave features 36 bungalows with modern facilities
