Aadhar cards launch on Jan 28 Hyderabad, Jan 27 (INN): The Aadhaar based smart card scheme will be launched in Maheshwaram mandal in Ranga Reddy district on January 28, which is said to be the first of its kind in the country. This card also serves as a multi-utility card.
Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy will formally launch the issue of the Aadhar based biometric authentication with smart cards to the poor. The objective of the government was to ensure that eligible persons get the right entitlement without any diversion as illegal drawal by others would not be possible. This is an innovative proposition which guarantees the drawal of essential commodities by the beneficiaries.
The enrolment is being taken up in the first phase in 7 districts of Srikakulam, East Godavari, Adilabad, Ranga Reddy, Hyderabad, Chittoor and Anantapur where 3,200 stations are being set up. People could enrol for securing Aadhar number and smart cards which will have encrypted data including Aadhar and ration card numbers of the card holder. In addition, designated photography location centres are being established to complete the process which will replace the existing white ration cards.
Over six lakhs people have already been identified in these districts and over two crore will be the target beneficiaries in the remaining 16 districts, said Minister for Civil Supplies Duddilla Sridhar Babu at the Secretariat on Thursday. Mr Sridhar Babu told newsmen that there will be no scope for duplication, nor is there a chance for the unsocial elements to dupe anybody or sell in the black-market.
The quantity identified by the MLA or the officer concerned will reach the dealer and the claim by the beneficiaries of the cards is foolproof, the Minister said. Any member of the family whose finger prints are captured and available in the smart card could go to the PDS fair shops where PoS would be available for authentication for issue of ration.
The card also serves to claim scholarships, fee reimbursements, pensions, claim LPG gas cylinders, housing allotment, for SHG members to claim their quota among others. The smart card system provides for FP shop-wise online stock position, reducing costs by preventing malpractices at grassroots level, saving money and time of the consumers, online inventory monitoring among others.
Above all it entails transparency in the ration distribution, display of stocks status. The officials will have complete control over the movement and distribution of total stocks. The mechanism will facilitate even the Centre to monitor the situation and check the stocks and distribution as how many drew the ration etc., said the Minister. He appealed to the media persons to extend their cooperation for implementation of the system.
