Visakhapatnam: The much-awaited 'Visakha Utsav-2026' got underway with great fanfare at the scenic RK Beach, marking a significant event in the cultural calendar of Andhra Pradesh. The nine-day extravaganza, themed 'Sea to Sky', promises to showcase the city's rich cultural heritage, breathtaking natural beauty, and vibrant spirit.

The inaugural ceremony was graced by state ministers Dola Balavirajaneeya Swamy, Kandula Durgesh, and Vangalapudi Anitha, who officially launched the festivities. The event featured a mesmerising carnival, captivating folk performances, and a spectacular fireworks display that lit up the night sky.

A major draw of this year's festival is the thrilling helicopter rides and paragliding experiences, offering breathtaking views of the city. Adventure enthusiasts can also enjoy a range of water sports and activities, adding an adrenaline rush to the celebrations.
Speaking on the occasion, the ministers emphasized the event's role in promoting Visakhapatnam as a top tourist destination, highlighting its unique blend of natural beauty and cultural richness. "Our aim is to showcase Visakhapatnam's charm to the world, boosting local employment and economic growth," they said.

The festival is expected to attract thousands of visitors, providing a significant boost to local businesses and hospitality. With its vibrant atmosphere and diverse offerings, Visakha Utsav-2026 is set to be an unforgettable experience for all.
Earlier, a beach carnival was conducted from aqua sports complex to Kalimata temple.
MLAs Pallla Srinivasa Rao, Velagapudi Ramakrishna Babu, Panchakarla Ramesh Babu and Ganababu, MLC Vepada Chiranjeevi Rao, chairmen of various corporations, Tourism special chief secretary Ajay Jain, district collector M N Harendra Prasad, tourism and district officials were present. A large number of skating and boxing players, folk artistes and people attended in large numbers on the day one of Visakha Utsav.
