Speaking at a 'Meet the Press' programme organisedat the press club in Vijayawada Parthasarathi said the Andhra Pradesh government is working responsibly to make the state number one in the country.
By 2029 every deserving poor person in Andhra Pradesh will have a house of their own., he said adding that the state is allocating 40 percent of its budget to housing and will provide subsidies of ₹50,000 for SC, BC and minority families, ₹75,000 for ST families and up to ₹100,000 for PGTDS categories.
Parthasarathi also defended the government's Public‑Private Partnership (PPP) model for medical colleges. The previous government claimed to have opened 17 colleges but spent only about ₹600 crore and abandoned a ₹8,500 crore project. Thanks to the PPP policy, 50 % of seats are now offered on merit at a fee of just ₹15,500, benefiting Andhra Pradesh students. The PPP policy Is a proven approach adopted across the country and abroad,' he added.
The minister said the previous government shattered the state's economy.
As per the Comptroller and Auditor General report the then YSRC government had borrowed 32 percent more than others and misused funds meant for capital expenditure. He highlighted abandoned projects such as the Chintalapudi irrigation scheme, which could have irrigated 2.5 lakh acres and supplied drinking water to millions.
Parthasarathi announced that Andhra Pradesh has already attracted investments worth ₹8.29 lakh crore and signed memoranda of understanding valued at an additional ₹13.5 lakh crore, promising up to two million jobs. The government has approved 25 sector‑specific policies ' including space, food processing, IT, drones and industrial development ' and introduced an escrow‑account mechanism to incentivize investors.
The minister also outlined plans to expand digital governance, with WhatsApp Governance delivering 700'800 public services directly to citizens, and to boost renewable energy through rooftop solar subsidies (20 % for BC communities) and a target to bring electricity prices below ₹4 per unit.
In the housing sector, the state aims to complete 5.5 lakh homes by mid‑2026 and has pledged to resolve issues surrounding TIDCO loans that have hurt borrowers' credit scores. 'We will ensure that every eligible family will have a house, and that the process is transparent and corruption‑free,' Parthasarathi said.
The minister said the government will issue cards to all eligible journalists in the state and form a committee to consider accreditation for social‑media.
