Krishna River hosts poetic tribute to celebrate literary excellence Poets are the torchbearers of society, says Durgesh
A poetic tribute, "Krishna Teeram Kavita Haram," was held on the banks of the Krishna River, bringing together 51 poets to recite their works in Vijayawada on Sunday. The event was part of efforts to promote literature and culture in the region.
State Tourism, Culture, and Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgaesh, who attended the event, praised poets for their role in guiding society. "Poets are the torchbearers of society, illuminating the path with their words," he said.

Durgaesh announced plans to organise similar literary events along rivers across the state, highlighting the government's commitment to preserving and promoting Andhra Pradesh's cultural heritage.
District Collector G. Lakshmisha lauded the poets, stating, "Writers and their works are vital to society, and it is our responsibility to preserve them for future generations." He emphasised the importance of protecting the state's cultural identity through literature and art.
The poets recited their poems aboard the "Bodhisiri" boat, offering a unique experience as the Krishna River's waves gently swayed the vessel. The event was organised by the Malletheega Literary Service Society in collaboration with the district administration and the state's tourism department.
Pothapati Tejaswini, Chairperson of the AP Creative and Cultural Commission, stressed the importance of preserving modern literature for future generations. "Literature is a treasure trove of knowledge that should be safeguarded and passed on," she said, adding that the event aimed to document contemporary poetry for posterity.
The event concluded with the minister and officials honoring the participating poets, acknowledging their contributions to Andhra Pradesh's rich literary landscape.
