Congress wins majority civics bodies in Telangana

Hung scenario in 38 municipalities

The Congress party has emerged victorious in the Telangana municipal elections, winning 64 out of 116 municipalities. The party secured 1,347 wards, while the BRS won 717 wards and the BJP secured 261 wards. Independent candidates won 256 wards. The results have led to a hung scenario in 38 municipalities, with no party securing a clear majority.

The Congress party's victory is seen as a significant boost to the party's morale. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has thanked the people for their support and dedicated the victory to the party workers.
In a tweet, Reddy thanked the people for their support and dedicated the victory to the party workers. He said the win is a testament to the party's commitment to public service and the trust the people have reposed in the government.
The Congress party has also won four municipal corporations, including Mancherial, Ramagundam, Nalgonda, and Mahabubnagar. The party's victory is expected to have a positive impact on its prospects in the parliamentary elections.

Reacting to the results, BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) claimed that his party had achieved better results in the elections, despite not winning as many seats as Congress. He criticised the Congress leaders, saying their boasts had been silenced by the BRS's performance. KTR also challenged Revanth Reddy to resign along with the MLAs who had defected to Congress and face the electorate again. The Congress party is expected to focus on consolidating its victory and preparing for the next Assembly elections.
Results:
- Congress: 64 municipalities, 1,347 wards
- BRS: 717 wards
- BJP: 261 wards
- Independents: 256 wards
- Hung scenario in 38 municipalities
- Congress wins 4 municipal corporations: Mancherial, Ramagundam, Nalgonda, and Mahabubnagar
The election results mark a significant milestone in the history of Telangana politics, with the Congress party emerging as the clear winner. The party's victory is expected to have far-reaching implications for the state's politics and governance.
Meanwhile, both Telugu Desam and Jana Sena opened their account in Telangana municipal elections. While TDP candidate won from Ward 10 in Madhira municipality in Khammam district Jana Sena candidate won from Ward 11 in Neredumilli municipality in Nalgonda district.
