Harish Rao Alleges Telangana Facing Severe Power Crisis Hyderabad: Senior Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader and former Telangana Finance Minister T. Harish Rao has accused the Congress-led Telangana government of pushing the state into a severe power crisis, alleging that frequent electricity outages have disrupted normal life and exposed what he termed the government's failure in managing the power sector.
Addressing the media on Friday, Harish Rao claimed that farmers, industries, and domestic consumers are bearing the brunt of repeated power interruptions across several parts of the state. He alleged that despite the government's assurances of uninterrupted electricity supply, many districts continue to experience unscheduled power cuts, particularly during peak demand hours.
The senior BRS leader said the situation has become especially challenging for farmers during the ongoing cultivation season, with irregular power supply affecting irrigation activities. He also claimed that industries and households are facing increasing inconvenience due to the recurring outages, raising concerns over the state's electricity management.
Criticizing the government's handling of the power sector, Harish Rao alleged that the administration had failed to adequately plan for the state's growing electricity demand. He called on the government to take immediate corrective measures to strengthen power generation and ensure reliable electricity distribution across Telangana.
The Telangana government, however, rejected the allegations, maintaining that the state continues to supply adequate electricity to meet demand. Officials stated that any localized power disruptions are temporary and are primarily linked to maintenance works or technical issues, which are being resolved on priority.
The issue has triggered a fresh political confrontation between the ruling Congress and the opposition BRS, with both sides exchanging sharp accusations over the management of Telangana's power infrastructure.
Power supply remains one of Telangana's most politically sensitive issues, particularly during the agricultural season when uninterrupted electricity is critical for irrigation, industrial operations, and domestic consumption. As the debate intensifies, the power sector is expected to remain a key point of contention between the government and the opposition in the coming days.
